Get your smile back with dental crowns and bridgework…
At Duncraig Dental Care in Perth we can restore you smile with dental crowns and bridgework that will leave your teeth looking and functioning as they once did. This can be a suitable solution for major dental problems caused through diseases, accidents, or wear and tear.
If you find yourself in a dental emergency and the severity of the damage is to the point where the tooth is beyond repair, we can use porcelain crowns to help make your smile appear as it did before the accident. Crowns and bridges can also be used as a viryually permanent solution to missing teeth to offer a restored smile and a functional bite.
What is a dental crown?
A dental crown is commonly used to cap or cover a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth a dental crown can also be used to improve its shape, appearance, or alignment. At Duncraig Dental Care we use porcelain crowns that can be matched to the colour of your natural teeth. Besides placing a dental crown over a damaged tooth they can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.
What are dental bridges?
The gaps left by missing teeth can eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, potentially resulting in a badly aligned bite. If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental bridges may be recommended to prevent this from happening. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, which is why replacing these gaps can be so important.
Bridges work to fill the space where the teeth are missing; they are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space. These teeth, called abutments, serve as anchors for the bridge. A replacement tooth, called a pontic, is then attached to the crowns that cover the abutments.
Which treatment is best for me?
When restoring your smile our dental professionals will do a full assessment of your dental condition and your missing teeth, allowing us to determine the best treatment for you. Missing teeth can and should be replaced, because if you fail to replace them it can lead to a decline in jawbone density, which can cause numerous dental problems. Getting crown or bridgework may be the solution you need to replace one or multiple missing teeth.
