NEW ZIRCONIA CROWN

 
Many of the older style crowns done years ago were made of porcelain fused to a greyish metal (PFM) lining. PFMs often had a very dull opaque look to them and would sometimes have a grey appearance around the gumline due to the metal showing through the thin porcelain. This may be acceptable on a back tooth where it is out of sight but is not aesthetically acceptable on a high visibility front tooth.

Zirconia crowns are the all ceramic alternative made totally out of a specially toughened porcelain. All zirconia ceramic crowns have an excellent cosmetic appearance without the grey gumline problem as is evident in the previous photos of a case done at Duncraig Dental Care.
