Brushing and Flossing
Back to Basics on Brushing and Flossing Basic and essential dental health is achieved by brushing with fluoridated toothpaste twice a day, flossing once a day and seeing the dentist for regular checkups.
Brushing should take 2-3 minutes. The best toothbrush is one with a small head and soft bristles. Rechargable electric toothbrushes are also good, especially for people who find proper brushing techniques difficult to master.
Your flossing technique is also vital. Take a decent length of floss, make sure it is tightly wrapped around and locked onto the middle finger of each hand, then slide between the teeth using a gentle sawing motion against each side of the tooth.
Prevention is our aim so seeing a dentist regularly can avert potential problems. Don't wait for something to happen before going. The dentist or hygienist will be able to advise how often you should visit us.
